Household Hazardous Waste Day Set for Oct. 24 in Ponca City
The City of Ponca City, in partnership with Phillips 66, will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The collection will take place in the north parking lot of Phillips 66, located near South Avenue and Oak Street. Residents participating in the event should enter the collection area from Oak Street.
This annual event provides Ponca City residents with a convenient opportunity to safely dispose of household products and materials that should not be placed in regular household trash. Proper disposal helps protect local waterways, soil, wildlife and the community while keeping potentially hazardous materials out of the waste stream.
Residents may bring a variety of household hazardous materials, including:
Used oils and filters — no drums

Pool chemicals
Household cleaners
Pesticides and herbicides

Residents are reminded that commercial disposal is not allowed. The collection is intended for household materials only.
For safety and handling reasons, the following items will not be accepted:
Medical waste
Radioactive materials
Compressed gas cylinders
Commercial waste
Tires
Kitchen appliances
Containers larger than 5 gallons
Explosives

Residents with unused or expired medications can also take advantage of the designated medication collection opportunity shown on the event information.
Organizers encourage residents to review their household storage areas ahead of the event and safely gather eligible materials for disposal. Do not mix chemicals or combine different products and keep materials in their original containers whenever possible. Residents should transport materials carefully and follow instructions from event personnel upon arrival.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is an important community effort to promote responsible disposal and help keep hazardous household materials out of landfills and the environment.
