The Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce serves Ponca City and the surrounding north-central Oklahoma region. Its service area includes local businesses, residents, visitors, and community partners throughout Kay County and nearby communities, with a focus on strengthening the local economy, supporting business growth, promoting tourism, and enhancing quality of life in the Ponca City area.
Founded in 1894The History of the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce stems back to the year 1894. It began as the Commercial Club and was organized to advance the interests of commerce during the big business boom, resulting from gas, oil, industry and real estate. On November 8, 1974, the Commercial Club was incorporated as the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce and was incorporated as the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce in 1985. Today, the Chamber's mission is much the same as it was 100 years ago, "to serve as the business community's catalyst for leading the Ponca City area into a growing, diversified, and prosperous future."
The Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit voluntary organization, which unites the efforts of business and professional people to improve the economy and to build a better community. Investors devote their time and resources to accomplish what no one person can do alone. To best understand the Chamber, you need to understand what it is not.
The Chamber is not...a government agency, a branch of City Hall, nor a state or federally supported organization.
The Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to preserving and expanding the private enterprise system...and the personal freedoms and responsibilities that accompany it. Investors are at the top of the organization. They are the strength of our organization - both the stockholders and the principal customers of the Chamber of Commerce.
